Hochschule Fresenius (University of Applied Sciences)

Hochschule Fresenius-University of Applied Sciences with some 17,000 students and nine study locations is one of the oldest and largest private universities with presence teaching in Germany. It can look back on a 170-year tradition: In 1848 Carl Remigius Fresenius founded the “Chemisches Laboratorium Fresenius” in Wiesbaden, which from the very outset devoted its attention to both practical laboratory work and training. The university has been state-recognized since 1971. Today’s headquarters are in Idstein in the state of Hesse.
Fresenius University of Applied Sciences offers a wide and varied range of programs in its Chemistry & Biology, Design, Health & Social, onlineplus and Economics & Media departments. It offers all study formats (full time, part time, parallel to work) and teach-learn formats (presence, hybrid, online). Hochschule Fresenius therefore sees itself more as a mixed mode university. From Winter Semester 2021, students in the Economics & Media department can compile their job-concurrent degree course individually from online and presence programs – to suit their learning preferences, time budget or life situation.
In the spirit of its founder Carl Remigius Fresenius, Fresenius University of Applied Sciences combines teaching, research and practical experience. The name Fresenius stands for innovative, practice-oriented teaching and applied research. Cooperation arrangements with a variety of corporate partners ensure our students’ access to the world of work. In addition, the university also specifically promotes international mobility: Its worldwide network opens up excellent prospects, be it for a semester abroad, internships or career entry after graduation. The university offers international study applicants preparatory programs for the university admission examination (“Feststellungsprüfung”) and other tailored services in cooperation with studienkolleg nrw.
