Founded in December 2021 as an officially recognised institution with university status in accordance with the Hessian Higher Education Act.


The Charlotte Fresenius Hochschule is officially recognised. Its application for concept review was positively assessed by the German Science and Humanities Council in October 2021. The study programme is subject to programme accreditation.

Charlotte Fresenius Hochschule


The Charlotte Fresenius Hochschule is an officially recognised university of psychology located in Wiesbaden, Hesse. It is privately sponsored by Hochschule Fresenius gemeinnützige GmbH and continues the educational tradition of the Fresenius family. The university is named after the wife of Carl Remigius Fresenius, the founder of the chemical laboratory on which the Fresenius University of Applied Sciences is based. It is the first and only university in Germany to bear the name of a woman.

In the start-up phase of the university, the focus is on psychological and psychotherapeutic Bachelor’s and later Master’s programmes. Starting in the summer semester of 2022, the Charlotte Fresenius University will initially offer a Bachelor’s programme in psychology at university level at its campuses in Wiesbaden and Munich. The programme is free of admission. In addition, a Master’s programme in Clinical Psychology & Psychotherapy is currently being planned at the Wiesbaden location.
